Bradley and I visited Avery Island LA, summer 2011. A salt dome island in the bayou. Home of the Tabasco factory and McIhenny’s pet project the jungle gardens. The original gardener McIlhenny was gifted with a 1000 yr old Buddha for which he built this beautiful shrine and garden. A truly beautiful place. We missed the azaleas but not the reptiles. Alligators, lizards and frogs! Wonderful! (but the buddha did look a little homesick…)
